Leviticus 19:18 You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people; but you shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am Yahweh.
Zechariah 8:17 and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor, and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate,” says Yahweh.
Luke 10:27 He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”
In Ohio right now there are about ¾ million people without power. Still in the Dayton, Ohio area there are about 180,000 without power. This means that mothers are not being able to feed children without going outside the budget or having others helping. Without refrigeration, food is spoiling and desperate children and adults can be eating food unfit for eating and getting sick.
So you say, I do not live in Ohio, what can I do? This is the greatness of being Christian. If you truly believe and trust the Lord and obey Him, you can always pray. I know, a lot of people do not think prayer means much without taking independent action. But, prayer has changed so much. Pastor Scott had Galveston laid on his heart two years ago. When Ike was first described as it entered the gulf, it was prophesied that the storm would be category 3+ up toward 4. It was to hit west of Galveston between there and Corpus Christi. At the last minute it changed dead center to Galveston and did not hit higher than a category 2. But no one knew how far its devastation would spread and in the Midwest winds, rain, floods did their damage. But what damage would have been suffered with a 3+ to 4 category?
Prayer changed the elements. How? God knew from the prayers coming to Him that there were those who were concerned. There were His children who need His protection. Let us look at me. I am writing you on a computer that is on cable, which brown outed a lot on Sunday during 66 to 70 mile an hour winds. The only wires exposed in downtown Dayton were trolley and cable. The rest are under streets and sidewalks. So electricity does not go out from above ground problems.
God listened and turned back the worst of the storm so that the destruction was not worse. Those with trees down on their houses may question that, but it could have been much worse.
Now is the time for all of us to reach out to each other. We need to help each other in whatever way we can. And, if we can, it is now time to pray especially for those who are cleaning up. For those who are working twenty-four, seven putting utilities back. Prayer for those who have spent their food budget, only to have it spoil. We have several places here people can get meals. Problem is that if it is outside the city limits, there is no electricity to cook it. Your prayers will be greatly appreciated!
